Helix auf Theaterbühne (on stage)
Stage object: fabric helix in a theatre
A sporting task was presented to airformance design as part of a science award ceremony of the Fraunhofer Society: build a 25 m long, 6 m wide, horizontal and tapering helix into a theatre stage in a short time!
No sooner said than done. The basis of this object was a flexible band made of white, two-layer stretch fabric B1. Exactly 45 linear meters in stretched condition. This tape was then twisted and stretched into the stage space with several hanging points. Thus, an unusual helix was created in the Central Theater (Leipzig), which spectacularly directed the viewer’s gaze into the depths of the room. The object offered a variety of possibilities for artists and projections.
